English Grammar - Why It's Important to Learn

Did you know that twenty percent of the world’s population speaks English as either a native or foreign language?

Global use of English to communicate is growing in places where English is not the majority language. Thus, good grammar is the foundation of good communication.

Learning grammar rules can help you develop the habit of thinking logically and clearly, and more accurately use the language.
With good grammar, you’ll be able to communicate your thoughts and ideas and avoid being misunderstood.

For English Language Learners, grammar improves the development of fluency as learning grammar can help you to more easily organize and express the ideas in your mind. Thus, you will be able to speak, read and write English more fluently.

Employers are immediately inclined to reject a job application that contains grammatical errors and is poorly written. It is important to keep this in mind when applying for a job.

When writing on behalf of your company, using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation in imperative, as this can mean the difference between readers trusting you and your expertise or questioning your knowledge of the subject matter. Even though you may be an expert at something, people will take you more seriously if your writing is error-free.

People have become increasingly lazier to use correct grammar in their everyday communications when texting, using Facebook, Twitter, or other social media. People tend to use sentences that are as simple as possible. Grammar may be unnecessary in these mediums and incomplete sentences may be acceptable but it is easy to get into a bad habit based on this.

Remember: There is no shortcut to learning English Grammar.
